Quick Answer: How to Cancel Spokeo
Disclosure: Lullar earns a commission if you buy a Spokeo, TruthFinder® or PeopleFinders membership through links on this page. None of that changes the steps below, which come from Spokeo's own help center and payment policy as read on 1 November 2026.
Cancelling Spokeo is free and takes about two minutes online. Sign in, open your account page (spokeo.com/user/account), scroll to Manage Account and click Cancel. Spokeo emails a confirmation; keep it. If there is no Cancel button, the same section has a Contact Form link: choose “I would like to terminate my membership” and then “Terminate Now”.
- By phone: Spokeo's payment policy lists Customer Care at 1-888-271-9562; its contact page says the phone team works 7 AM to 5 PM Pacific, seven days a week. Chat and email are open around the clock.
- Paid with PayPal: cancel on Spokeo first, then check PayPal's automatic payments.
- Refunds: memberships are prepaid and not prorated; cancelling stops the next charge. Ask Customer Care if you were billed after forgetting.
- Your own listing: cancelling does not remove it. That is a separate opt-out at spokeo.com/optout.
Still inside the seven-day trial? Same steps, but the deadline is 11:59 PM Pacific on the last day; our Spokeo free trial guide covers that case. If you are leaving because of the price or the data, the alternatives by reason are further down.
Step by Step: Cancel Your Spokeo Membership Online
- Sign in at spokeo.com with the email address you signed up with. That email is your username; if you cannot remember which address you used, search your inbox for a receipt from Spokeo.
- Open the account page. Go straight to spokeo.com/user/account, or open the account menu. Spokeo's payment policy calls the same place Usage & Subscriptions under Account Settings; the help center calls it the account page. Either label gets you there.
- Scroll to “Manage Account” and click Cancel. Spokeo will offer a pause and remind you what you lose. Confirm the cancellation.
- Keep the confirmation email. Spokeo says it sends one to the address on file once the membership will no longer renew. No email within an hour? Check spam, then contact Customer Care before the next billing date, not after.
- Expect to keep access until the period ends. The payment policy says you keep premium access until the end of the period you paid for, and the remaining days are not refunded or prorated. Plans renew at the same length they were bought (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually), so a three-month plan bills three months at once.
Two things Spokeo's own help center adds that most cancel guides miss: there is no fee to cancel, and Spokeo says it is not affiliated with third-party apps or services that offer to cancel your subscription for a fee. You never need one.
If you are reading this before signing up, that is the useful fact: Spokeo cancels in two minutes from the account page, so set a reminder for the last trial day and the trial is low-risk.
Spokeo cancels from the account page with no fee, so its trial is low-risk if you set a reminder for the last day. Its search takes a name, email, phone number, username or address and returns contact details, address history, relatives and social profiles from US records.
Search on Spokeo →No Cancel Button? Use the Contact Form, Chat or Phone
Some accounts show a Contact Form link in the Manage Account section instead of a Cancel button. Spokeo's instructions: click it, choose “I would like to terminate my membership” from the drop-down and select “Terminate Now”.
The other routes, from Spokeo's contact page and payment policy (read 1 November 2026):
| Route | When it is open | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Account page (spokeo.com/user/account) | Any time | The normal case: two minutes, instant confirmation |
| Chat (contact page) | 24/7 virtual assistant; a person can join | No Cancel button, a refund question, a written record |
| Email (contact page form) | Any time; Spokeo says it replies shortly | When you want the request in writing |
| Phone: 1-888-271-9562 | 7 AM to 5 PM Pacific, seven days (holidays excepted) | Locked out of the account, or a charge you do not recognise |
Have these ready so the agent can find the account: the account holder's name, the email address on file, and the last four digits of the card that was charged (the details Spokeo's help center asks for when verifying an account). Ask for the cancellation confirmation by email before you hang up or close the chat.
Don't just read — try a search now
Paid With PayPal, Venmo or Apple Pay, or on an iPhone?
- PayPal: Spokeo's payment policy says PayPal accounts get extra cancellation instructions on the Usage & Subscriptions page, and that the confirmation may come from Spokeo or from PayPal. Cancel on Spokeo first, then open PayPal, go to Automatic payments and check that the Spokeo agreement is gone.
- Venmo, Apple Pay or Google Pay: Spokeo's help center lists these as payment methods it accepts and says it stores no bank or card details for them. They are just how the membership is paid; cancel the membership itself on the account page. Removing the card from your wallet or app does not cancel anything and can leave a failed payment on the account.
- On an iPhone: Spokeo's help center describes its mobile app as Android-only, for customers who already have an account, so a Spokeo charge on an iPhone is almost always a website membership, not an App Store subscription. Open Safari, sign in at spokeo.com and use the account page. If the charge does appear under Settings → your name → Subscriptions, cancel it there instead.
- On Android: deleting the app does not cancel the membership. Use the account page in a browser.
Not sure the charge is Spokeo? Spokeo says its charges appear on statements as SPK*SPOKEO, SPK*SPOKEO SEARCH, SPOKEO *8006994264 or SPOKEO.COM 8006994264. A charge with that name usually follows a search where someone clicked “Get Full Results” or “Sign Up”, including a trial started by someone else on a shared card.
Pause Instead of Cancel (and the Two-Day Reminder)
Spokeo's help center offers two softer options before you cancel, and for some readers they are the better choice:
- Pause the membership. Members who are past the trial can pause and come back later; Spokeo says you are not billed while paused. Useful if you search in bursts, say a house move or a dating season, and want your saved reports and history kept.
- Billing reminder. Spokeo can email you two days before the next billing date, so you can decide then. Note this is an email, not a guarantee; if you know you are done, cancel now.
- Download your reports first. Reports can be saved as PDFs, and you lose access to them in the account after cancelling. Spokeo also notes that unused searches do not roll over to the next period.
A pause is not offered during the trial. If you are still in the first seven days and do not want the membership, cancel before the trial ends.
Refunds: What Spokeo's Policy Says and How to Ask
The rule: Spokeo's payment policy (last updated 15 December 2020, read 1 November 2026) says all premium sales are final, memberships are prepaid for the period and non-refundable, and cancelling does not refund or prorate the current period. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not undo the last one.
In practice: Spokeo's help center invites billing questions through Customer Care, and its public responses to complaints show refunds granted case by case, most often when someone writes in promptly about a renewal they did not intend. It costs nothing to ask. What helps:
- Cancel first, so the request is about one charge rather than an open membership.
- Ask in writing (chat or the contact form) within a few days of the charge, give the date and amount, and say plainly that you did not use the account after the renewal, if that is true.
- Charged after a confirmed cancellation? That is a different case. Reply with the confirmation email attached; if it is not fixed, dispute the charge with your card issuer or PayPal and include the confirmation.
Avoid paid “cancel and refund for you” services: Spokeo says it is not affiliated with them, and they can do nothing you cannot do yourself in a chat window.
Cancelling vs Deleting Your Account vs Removing Your Listing
Three different things that people search for with the same words:
| You want to | What to do | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Stop paying | Cancel on the account page (above) | Does not remove your own listing or close the login |
| Close the account | Ask Customer Care to close access (Spokeo's “Can I delete my account?” help article) | Purchase records are kept for the period the law requires; after closing you cannot sign in or change anything |
| Take your information off Spokeo | Opt out at spokeo.com/optout: paste the URL of your listing, give an email address, confirm the link Spokeo emails you | Needs no account and no payment; does not remove you from other people-search sites |
Opt-out tips from Spokeo's own troubleshooting page: the listing URL should look like spokeo.com/John-Smith/State/City/1234567890; if yours contains “purchase” or “&loaded=1”, run the search again in a private window to get the clean URL. A removed listing can still show from your browser cache, so clear it before checking. Spokeo's privacy team is at privacy@spokeo.com. Spokeo is one of dozens of sites that list the same records; our guide to removing yourself from people-search sites covers the rest.
Spokeo Alternatives After You Cancel
Most people who cancel Spokeo are not done searching; they are done with one of four things: the monthly bill, the data, the search types or the renewal. Pick by the reason, not by a ranking:
| Why you are leaving | Use instead | Cost (reported, October 2026) | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| You only needed one or two answers | Lullar for a name, email or username; TruePeopleSearch or FastPeopleSearch for a US address or phone | Free | Lullar shows profiles, not addresses; free directories lag and may block non-US visitors |
| You want criminal and traffic records in the report | a TruthFinder® report | About $28 a month | Personal use only; renews monthly |
| A second opinion on US address and relative records | PeopleFinders | About $25 a month standard; low-cost trials | Trials renew at the full rate |
| Many searches a month, published price | Intelius | About $25 a month | Name, phone and address only; no email or username search |
| Vehicle (VIN or plate) searches | BeenVerified | About $37 a month | Capped at 100 reports a month |
| You do not want any subscription | A one-off report or free tools | Varies | Most “one report” offers are trials that renew |
The pattern to know before you switch: every big paid people-search site uses the same model as Spokeo, a card up front, a short low-cost trial and automatic renewal, and all of them draw on overlapping US public records. Switching fixes the data or the search type; it does not fix the billing model. Whatever you pick, put the cancel date in your calendar the day you sign up.
None of these, Spokeo included, is a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA: do not use any of them to screen a tenant, an employee or a borrower. Prices are from reviewer and company pages in October 2026 and change often; the full comparisons are in our Spokeo alternatives guide, Spokeo vs BeenVerified vs TruthFinder, TruePeopleSearch alternatives, people search without a subscription and the paid services compared.
If Billing Was the Only Problem
The two complaints that dominate Spokeo's reviews are a trial that renewed and addresses that were a few years old, not the search itself. If that is you, you may not need a new site:
- Search in bursts? Pause instead of cancelling (members only), or cancel now and sign up again only when you next need a report.
- Old address in a report? Treat any people-search address as a lead, not a fact. A second source such as a live social profile, a court filing or a relative's listing turns it into an answer, and Lullar's free search finds the profile half in seconds.
- Need a single number or email identified? Our guides to finding out who called you and finding someone by email start with the free checks.
On the data, Spokeo is still the one paid service we send readers to first for a personal search, because a single Spokeo membership takes all five inputs: name, phone, email, address and username. Our full Spokeo review covers accuracy and pricing in more depth.
Sources and Method (checked 1 November 2026)
Every Spokeo step and rule on this page was read on 1 November 2026 from Spokeo's own pages: the help-center articles “How do I cancel?”, “Does Spokeo charge to cancel?”, “Can I delete my account?”, “I see a charge from Spokeo”, “How do I remove my information from Spokeo?”, “Why can't I opt out my listing?” and the mobile-app FAQ (help.spokeo.com); the payment policy (spokeo.com/payment-policy, last updated 15 December 2020); and the contact page (spokeo.com/contact). Where the help center and the payment policy use different labels for the same screen (account page vs Usage & Subscriptions), both are given. Competitor prices are the typical figures from reviewer tests and the companies' own pages in October 2026, as compared in the guides linked above; they are promotional and change often. We did not cancel a live membership for this page; if a screen looks different when you try, use the chat route, which works for every account type.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I cancel my Spokeo subscription?
Sign in at spokeo.com, open your account page (spokeo.com/user/account), scroll to Manage Account and click Cancel. Spokeo emails a confirmation. If there is no Cancel button, use the Contact Form link in the same section, choose "I would like to terminate my membership" and then "Terminate Now". Cancelling is free.
What is the Spokeo cancellation phone number?
Spokeo's payment policy lists Customer Care at 1-888-271-9562, and its contact page says phone support runs 7 AM to 5 PM Pacific, seven days a week. Chat (a 24/7 virtual assistant with a live agent option) and email are open at any time. Have the account email and the card's last four digits ready.
Can I get a refund from Spokeo?
Not automatically. Spokeo's payment policy says memberships are prepaid, non-refundable and not prorated; cancelling stops the next charge only. Customer Care reviews refund requests case by case, so cancel first, then ask in writing within a few days of the charge. If you were charged after a confirmed cancellation, send the confirmation email and dispute the charge if needed.
How do I cancel Spokeo on my iPhone?
Use a browser. Spokeo's help center describes its app as Android-only, so an iPhone charge is almost always a website membership: open Safari, sign in at spokeo.com and cancel on the account page. Only if the charge appears under Settings, your name, Subscriptions is it billed by Apple, and then you cancel it there.
What does a Spokeo charge look like on my statement?
Spokeo says its charges appear as SPK*SPOKEO, SPK*SPOKEO SEARCH, SPOKEO *8006994264 or SPOKEO.COM 8006994264. Charges follow a search where someone clicked Get Full Results or Sign Up, including a low-cost trial that renewed into a membership.
Does cancelling Spokeo remove my information from Spokeo?
No. Cancelling stops billing only. To remove your own listing, use Spokeo's opt-out page (spokeo.com/optout): paste your listing URL, enter an email address and click the confirmation link Spokeo sends. It needs no account and no payment.
Can I delete my Spokeo account?
You can ask Customer Care to close access to the account. Spokeo says it must keep purchase records for a period required by law, but it stores only the last four digits of a card. Once closed, you can no longer sign in or change anything on the account.
Does Spokeo charge a fee to cancel?
No. Spokeo says cancelling is free from the account page or through Customer Care, and that it is not affiliated with third-party apps or services that offer to cancel a subscription for a fee.
